I have been attending Dr. Mindel for about a year now and have has nothing but positive results. I came to Dr. Mindel with lower back pain so bad it was affecting daily life. I could not sit for long periods of time without getting numb and exercise and bending just brought more pain. At this stage I had already gone to several specialist and had three courses of Physical Therapy. Most of the specialist and Orthopedic Surgeons wanted to perform surgery on the lower back but I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I was referred to Dr. Mindel by two of my co-workers who raved about the care they received so I figured I would give it a try. In about three weeks, I could feel changes. Within a few months, I could bend down and get back up, ride the subway home without getting up every five minutes. A year later I do not have back pain but will continue to see Dr. Mindel every couple of weeks to keep my body in tune. It is a combination of things that he does that work for me. Two part Mairelon the Magician and as dashing as Rhett Butler. I think patients need more information and have choices like Dr. Mindel before they think about surgery.

I came to Dr. Mindel several months ago with chronic back pain which impeded me from getting up from a sitting position without pain. Although I had received previous treatment for this condition by another chiropractor and his massage therapist for over a year, it had not been adequately handled. After several weeks of treatment with Dr. Mindel, I am pain free and have restored range of motion. My treatment has included supplements to reduce inflammation, as well as to boost my immune system. Dr. Mindel has also helped me through various food and microbe sensitivities, and worked on muscular issues through deep tissue massage, chiropractic, BodyTalk, and many other systems to help restore inner balance and health. A recent attack of shingles, which last time went on for several excruciatingly painful weeks, lasted only 2 1/2 weeks under his care, with minimal pain and no antibiotics.

I now have no health complaints and feel calmer and more energized than I have for several years. Dr. Mindel’s approach is expert and assured, while also having the humility to be curious enough to let my body do the talking, rather than imposing a treatment. We have worked together in a productive collaboration, tackling physical, energetic and emotional issues with clarity and speed.

Aside from Dr. Mindel’s obvious mastery in so many modalities, his manner is light-hearted, filled with humor, and compassionate. Nancy, who assists him, also lends a highly positive, kind, and professional presence to the office. The entire atmosphere of my experience with Dr. Mindel has contributed to my overall sense of health and well-being–so much so that I actually look forward to my visits! I wish all of you who are considering his services the good fortune of such a successful collaboration.

I came to see Dr. Mindel on a Wed afternoon after suffering a sleepless Tuesday night and Wednesday of persistent lower back pain. The pain was severe. It felt like Id been kicked in the back by a place kicker but this pain literally came on without warning. I was so glad to see Dr. Mindel walk through the door in his exam room and yet I wasn’t sure much could be done. In fact, I was pretty sure he’d tell me that he couldn’t do anything for me and would recommend immediate emergency surgery because it hurt that much, plus I am something of a worry wort/whiner. Anyway, Dr. Mindel tested me, asking my body questions by pulling at my thumb and pinky. He was getting answers and seemed to know just what to do. Incredibly, my body seemed to want to be given a deep massage in the lower back area — something I couldn’t imagine wouldn’t put me in even more pain. But I am open to Dr. Mindel because I trust him. He has an innate no-nonsense style. He seems to relish challenges and takes personal pleasure in trying to solve problems and get to the bottom of things. All I can say was that after about 10 minutes of treatment, the pain subsided significantly. It felt like something in body opened up. By the end of the evening, I was 100% better. It was an incredible turnaround and I attribute it to Dr. Mindel’s rare abilities and care. I am so grateful for his help.

I have been an athlete, mostly a runner, since I was at least 12 years old. I have run 9 marathons, competed on the track and participate in triathlons, all pretty competitively. However, it all caught up to me in my early thirties when I began experiencing injuries. I had no less than four running related injuries beginning in 1999. I initially went to see traditional orthopedists. They prescribed anti-inflammatory and MRI’s. The anti-inflammatories did nothing and the MRI’s showed normal results. I began to speak to fellow athletes and noticed that most people had the greatest success with doctors who took a more holistic view of the body. This was what led me to Dr. Mindel.

Dr. Mindel has had me back on my feet in two weeks after I wasted months with traditional orthopedists. He has made observations about my body’s balance and alignment and corrected the root of the problem. Not only do I have great confidence in Dr. Mindel because of all of the injuries he has seen me through, but his approach makes so much sense to me.

I recommend Dr. Mindel to my athletic and non-athletic friends all the time. I recommend him to you as well, all at the risk of him suddenly being less accessible to me, which is a great fear!

In May 2002 I suffered a shoulder injury which left me seriously handicapped and in great physical, mental and emotional pain. I spent most of my days in bed. I had no energy, was very weak, depressed and in continuous pain. I saw a Sports Medicine doctor, my general practitioner, an acupuncturist/herbalist, an osteopath and a psychiatrist. I had multiple blood tests, x-rays and a MRI. I had massages, acupuncture treatments, cranial-sacral therapy and physical therapy. I had been given cortisone injections and was on 12 Advil a day.

Dr. Mindel was referred to me by my physical therapist. My progress had been slow and I was very frustrated. Dr. Mindel listened to me, and examined me thoroughly. He prescribed natural supplements and in one week I had gotten stronger. I was amazed. Within two months, I had gained more mobility, and my frozen left shoulder now had a much greater range of motion. My body began to gradually regain its equilibrium. I am very grateful to Dr. Mindel for his care and individualized approach.

I am in my mid-thirties and in excellent health. Since I run marathons, I started visiting Dr. Mindel three years ago to proactively prevent injuries to my back and knees. Dr. Mindel had worked wonders- helping to cure minor back pain and even the common cold. I look at my friends and younger siblings who have not taken proactive measures and they all seem to suffer from some ache or pain. I credit Dr. Mindel’s preventative approach to health and wellness to my continued excellent health.

I am a serious runner who has a history of good health and occasional running-related problems that interrupt my training. With over 30 years of racing experience I suffered a number of foot problems, torn knee cartilage and occasional lower-back stiffness. I can’t remember, however, when I experienced the excruciating lower back pain that sent me to Dr. Mindel earlier this year. As I said I have had back pain before, as early as 25 years ago, but usually the problems involved lower back spasms and diminished after a week or two. This injury, however, affected my left hip, and the pain was so acute that, after trying to run through the problem for two months, I stopped running altogether. While prolonged periods of rest and concentrated stretching alleviated some of the symptoms I never was without pain. Then I visited Dr. Mindel on the advice of a friend who had seen him for a running-related injury, and the results were dramatic. Within two weeks my back seemed looser, and I was able to take easy, short runs. Within a month I was running daily. Now, after 10 weeks of therapy, twice a week visits for the first five weeks, then once a week, I feel injury-free, able to run wherever and whenever I please. Dr. Mindel was able to do what the rest could not. He sought out the problem, worked hard to alleviate the symptoms and correct the problems, then put me on a recovery program that has me running as I did years ago. I am thankful I found him and will continue to consult him in the future to prevent a recurrence of this injury or related injuries.

I had developed periodic episodes of labored breathing and generalized weakness that was increasing in frequency, duration and incapacitation. These were the last and most alarming of a number of symptoms (arm pain and numbness, tingling, systemic pins and needles, etc.) that seemed to gradually manifest over a period of approximately 2 ½ months after a neck/arm strain injury. Two emergency room visits later, as well as consultations with a cardiologist and a neurologist (both of whom offered no real insight as to the cause of my physiological distress, but did thankfully medicate for inflammation), I fortunately found my way to Dr. Frederick Mindel. I can truthfully say that after my first visit with Dr. Mindel, I walked out of his office detecting an immediate physical improvement. I felt confident for the first time in the midst of this medical crisis that a doctor had an understanding of what was happening to me-and that together we would make progress. Working with him has not only been a tremendous relief, but an education as his multifaceted approach incorporates a number of strategies, such as chiropractic adjustments, nutritional supplements, and applied kinesiology that allows for an ongoing dialogue with the body. Dr. Mindel is a healer in the truest sense of the word. The holistic framework from which he operates is a model for patient-centered care.

In times of emergency, you wouldn’t think of seeing a holistic doctor, but when I tripped on a rug and landed on my hand, I went straight to Dr. Mindel. At the moment I fell, I was more embarrassed than hurt, but the next day the trauma was so great, I could not raise my hand to my mouth to eat! This would have been upsetting under any circumstance, but at the time, I was committed to moving out of my apartment by the end of the month and would have suffered financially could I not make that deadline. Needless to say, I started to panic. With one session Dr. Mindel was able to restore the mobility and dexterity I needed. I left his office with my hand agile and my confidence restored.
